Website improvements in Christchurch and across New Zealand

Improve the website you already have

An outdated website does not always need a complete rebuild. I help SMEs, corporate and enterprise teams improve existing pages, mobile layouts and enquiry paths, with the connected domain and email setup considered too.

Talk directly with John Finnerty. We will confirm the scope and charging basis before work starts.

Make it easier for a customer to choose you

This is for businesses with a site that feels dated, does not explain the offer clearly or makes it hard to get in touch. It also suits a website inherited from a previous provider.

Clearer pages and copy

Explain what you do, who it is for and how to enquire. Improve service pages, navigation and the order of information.

Mobile layout and enquiry paths

Improve readability, buttons and forms on smaller screens. Check important journeys, errors and direct phone or email routes.

Technical cleanup and a careful move

Review search-facing basics, redirects, image loading and accessibility. Plan DNS and email dependencies when hosting or the website changes.

The first decision is what to keep. A focused repair or refresh may be enough. If a rebuild is the better option, I will explain why before that becomes the scope.

Completed website upgrade

Eight clinic pages made mobile friendly

For Able Acupuncture, I retained the familiar branding and existing page URLs while rebuilding the layout for phones. The work also added clinic contact actions and a server-connected enquiry form.

Completed client work

A replacement website, with Microsoft 365 email checked

A New Zealand small business needed a replacement website connected while retaining Microsoft 365 email. The work included DNS capture, a staged Cloudflare change, website and mail checks and handover notes.

The case study is published anonymously. It records the scope and checks without claiming zero downtime or a result beyond the evidence.

Know what is included and who controls it

An agreed change list

We identify the pages and problems to address, the content you need to provide and the checks that will show whether the work is complete.

Business-controlled accounts

The scope identifies who controls the domain, hosting and any third-party services. Handover should leave your business able to manage its accounts or change providers.

Checks and handover notes

Record the changes, test the agreed enquiry and website paths and identify any remaining work or ongoing third-party costs.

Starting the work

A clear scope before you commit

1. Tell me what is happening

Send your website address and tell me what is no longer working well or what you want customers to do. You do not need to diagnose it first. Do not send passwords or recovery codes.

2. Agree the next step

I will confirm whether I can help, what access is needed and whether the work suits remote or onsite support. We agree the scope and charging basis before changes begin.

3. Check and hand over

The handover records what changed, the checks completed and anything that still needs your provider or another specialist.

If the scope changes, we agree the next step before additional work.

Tell me what you would like to sort out

A short description is enough to start. I will help work out which part of the setup needs attention.

Before you get in touch

Can you work with my existing website or provider?

That is the starting point. I will check the platform, access and constraints before recommending a repair, refresh or replacement. Some changes need the current provider to be involved.

Will changing the website affect business email?

It can if DNS or hosting records are changed without checking the email dependencies. The scope should identify the current mail provider and records, agree the change and include relevant mail checks.

How much will it cost?

That depends on the site, access, content and the changes needed. We agree the scope and charging basis before work begins and identify hosting, licences or other third-party costs separately.

Does this include ongoing support?

Any ongoing work needs its own agreed scope. The handover should make clear who handles updates, renewals and future support so those responsibilities are not assumed.

Can you help outside Christchurch?

Website, domain and email work can often be handled remotely across New Zealand. I can discuss onsite work in Christchurch when that is useful.
